Solving Simultaneous Equations
We know to solve an equation we need to find the value of th unknowns e.g. x, y, a, b ...
Simultaneous Equations sets of equations that have the same unknowns.
For example 3x + y = 20 could have multiple solutions.
3
Open Ended
What are the most imaginative values of x and y that you can think of which makes 3x + y= 20
4
Simultaneous Equations
So we need more information to be able to solve 3x + y =20 and narrow down their true values
This is where simultaneous equations can help bu giving us more infomation. For example what if we also know x + y = 14
5
Simultaneous Equations
We now have two equations
3x + y = 20
x + y = 14
Can you work out the values of x and y now?
