Unit 6 fractions review

Know what a unit fractions is

to make a fraction you are basically adding fractions to make the one you need

for example 1/3+1/3= 2/3

don't forget denominators stay the same

remember that the equal sign means that both sides have to add to the same fraction

the denomiators must stay the same

pay attention to the fraction made on each side

Use the butterfly method

label the fractions if you can

make sure you know your comparison signs

The numerator is what gets added or subtracted

the denominator stays the same

if the fraction if over 10 then the number has to end in the 10ths place which is right after the decimal

If the fraction is over 100 then it has to end in the 100's place. two numbers have to be after the decimal

If it is a mixed fraction the big number, or whole number is infront of the decimal

the small ticks are the fractions

pay attention to the whole numbers on the largest tick marks
