Article 4 - Relations Among the States

• States must accept each other's records

• If you commit a crime in one state and you flee into anther state you must be returned upon the request of the governor of that state

• New states are allowed and Congress will set the rules (37 new states)

• The U.S. will protect the states from outside invasion and inside domestic violence

• States must have a republican form of government

Article 5 - Amending the Constitution

• 2/3 of Congress or state legislatures can propose an amendment

• 3/4 of state legislatures or state conventions are needed for the amendment to become part of the Constitution (ratify)

• An amendment is a change or addition to the Constitution​

• The first 10 Amendments are called the Bill of Rights​

• We have 27 Amendments in total

Article 6 - National Supremacy

• U.S. government will pay all state debts after the war

• States must follow all treaties and national laws(National Supremacy)

• All public officials must take an Oath of Office to defend and protect the U.S. Constitution

• ​President, Vice-President, Cabinet Members, Military, Judges, Police, Senators, and Representatives take the oath to protect the Constitution

Article 7 - Ratifying the Constitution

• 9 of the 12 state legislatures were needed to vote in favor of the Constitution for it to become the law of the land

• June 21st, 1788 New Hampshire was the 9th state to ratify

• Rhode Island was the last state to ratify in 1790 because it feared being absorbed by the states bordering them
