Our major scale is made up of this pattern: W W H W W W H

Example: Bb C D Eb F G A Bb

Notice how all of the notes move alphabetically and we never skip or repeat a letter.

The concert C Major scale as no flats / sharps = the key of C has no flats or sharps.

Knowing the scale or the key signature will help in our understanding of both.

A few more questions:

If you are building a scale with flats, it cannot have any sharps in its spelling.

Incorrect Example: Bb C D D# F G A Bb

Correct Example: Bb C D Eb F G A Bb
