2.2 Standard Form of Linear Functions

Find the x-intercept and plot it on the x-axis

Find the y-intercept and plot it on the y-axis

Draw a line throughthe x-intercept and the y-intercept

Find the x-intercept, by letting y = 0.

 $2x-6\left(0\right)=12$  

 $2x-0=12$  

 $2x=12$  

 $\frac{2x}{2}=\frac{12}{2}$  

 $x=6$  

Plot a point at (6, 0)

Find the y-intercept, by letting x = 0.

 $2\left(0\right)-6y=12$  

 $0-6y=12$  

 $-6y=12$  

 $\frac{-6y}{-6}=\frac{12}{-6}$  

 $y=-2$  

Plot a point at (0, -2)
