Ecosystems - Biodiversity & Resilience

Biodiversity - variety of life in the world or in a particular ecosystem.

Biologically diverse communities are more likely to have species that confer resilience to that ecosystem because as a community accumulates species, there is a higher chance of any one of them having traits that enable them to adapt to a changing environment.

Resilience - the ability of ecosystems to resist permanent structural change and maintain ecosystem functions.
