Zakah

Zakah means ‘increase’ or 'purify'
Zakah is must upon all muslims if they have a certain amount of property and wealth.
It is 2.5 % of the total amount of extra wealth, that we have over the year.
We need to give Zakah just once a year.
We can pay the complete amount together or in parts over the year.
You cant give it to non Muslims, parents, wife or your children. (Your Dependents)
You need to learn as you grow up how to calculate it.

Having money is a big responsibility. We do not own our wealth. Our wealth belongs to Allah. He has given us this wealth. We must use it as Allah has told us to use it. Whatever money Allah gives us, there is a share in it for other people who need it more than us. By sharing our money with others, it helps to purify us from greed and selfishness. It also cleans our wealth and puts more blessings in it.

Optional charity in Arabic is also known as 'Sadaqah'. Allah has not put any limit on Sadaqah. So, we can do as much Sadaqah as we want to. It is something we can do every day, and it is more than just giving money to the poor and needy. Giving money to the poor and needy people is one form of Sadaqah, but it is not the only form. For example, the following things are all examples of 'Sadaqah' (charity in Islam):
