Descriptive Text - Noun Phrase

2
Definition
Noun Phrase is a combination of several words that form a new noun.
3
Two terms that must be understood in composing a noun phrase:
Pre-modifier (affix that is placed in front of the noun)
Eg: She's the most beautiful person I ever met.
Main noun = person
Changed to a noun phrase because the phrase "the most beautiful" was in front of the noun playing.
Post-modifier (the affix that is placed behind the noun)
Eg: I really hate walking in the dark.
The main noun = walking
Walking becomes a noun with gerunds
Gerund = verb + ing
Changes to a noun phrase because the sentence "in the dark" is behind the main noun.
