Let's say for experimentation purposes, they will slowly hit the brakes: which vehicle will stop later than the other vehicle?

Momentum is mass in motion.
Momentum is an indication of how hard it would be to stop the object.
Momentum increases when EITHER mass OR velocity increase.
Momentum = mass x velocity (p = m * v)

If you throw a small ball and a large ball at the same speeds,
the large ball will hit an object with a greater momentum;
it will be harder to stop; and
it will hurt more, if a living being will be hit by it.

However, a smaller ball like a golf ball will be more harmful.
It is small in size but heavy, and yet it can still be thrown (without a golf club) at a decent speed.

REMEMBER:
Momentum always increases when EITHER mass OR velocity increase.
