Adding Integers warm-up 10/22/20

When the signs are the same, you add the numbers and keep the sign they share.

5 + 3 = 8 and -5 + (-3) = -8

When the signs are different, you find their difference and keep the sign of the larger number (ignoring the sign/absolute value).

-8 + 3 = -5

9+ (-7) = 2

The signs are the same, so we add them and keep the negative.

-5 + -7 = -12

The signs are different, so we find the difference of the numbers (subtract) and keep the sign of the bigger number (absolute value).

-10 + 8 = -2

The signs are different, so we subtract 12 minus 12 is zero.

-12 + 12 = 0
