A. Pengertian Qalqalah
Qalqalah artinya memantulkan atau membalikkan. Maksudnya, pengucapan huruf yang bersukun yang disertai pantulan suara pada makhrajnya, sehingga terdengar tekanan suara yang kuat, baik sukunnya asli atau karena waqaf. Atau lebih jelasnya qalqalah adalah pantulan suara huruf sukun ketika diucapkan.

B. Pembagian Qalqalah
Sugra artinya kecil. Qalqalah Sugra, yaitu qalqalah yang pantulannya kecil/ringan, ketika huruf-huruf qalqalah letaknya di tengah kalimat. Cara membacanya yaitu dengan pantulan yang tidak terlalu kuat, atau membaca pantulan dengan yang kecil.
Kubra artinya besar. Qalqalah Kubra, yaitu qalqalah yang pantulannya besar/kuat, ketika huruf-huruf qalqalah tersebut letaknya di akhir kalimat. Cara membacanya harus lebih mantap memantulkan suara dengan pantulan yang besar.
