Prepared Public Speaking

Contest Dates: Written Report Due November 2, 2020 and Speaking Contest will be November 17, 2020 AFTER School.

Written Manuscript: Speech will need to be between 4 and 6 minutes in length on an agriculture related topic.

Speaking Contest: Will be held live via Zoom.

It has to be agriculture related!

Pick something you are interested in learning and speaking about.

Search for reliable sources to get your speech information.

NO WIKIPEDIA!!!

Think about how you would write a paper for Language Arts class.

Use complete sentences, proper spelling and grammar.

Type on the GoogleDoc Mrs. Dorminey share with you. Copy and paste links to ALL sources on the page.

Do NOT copy someone else's work word for word!

Make sure you can pronounce all the words in your speech and know your facts!

You don't have to memorize the written speech word for word.

Watch the videos on Schoology of other presenters.

Practice by recording yourself speaking to help get used to being on camera for the Zoom contest.

Watch your videos! Look for bad habits such as playing with hands/hair/clothing, swaying back and forth, or using the word UMMM!
