The Constituent Assembly officially opened on December 9, 1946

The first draft of the constitution of India was prepared in October, 1947

Dr. B R Ambedkar was appointed the Chairman of the Drafting Committee on August 29, 1947

Sir B. N. Rau as appointed the advisor of the drafting committee

First draft was submitted on 21 February, 1948

On 4th November, 1948, the draft was presented to the constituent assembly

Between 15 November 1948 to 17 October 1949, it was considered clause by clause.

Second draft was presented on 16 November, 1949

The motion to adopt the constitution was passed on 26th November, 1949

The constitution was finally signed by members of the constituent assembly on 24th January, 1950 - the last day of the assembly.
