Jamaica's National Orders and Awards

Awards Ceremony

Held at King's House every year on National Heroes Day.

Jamaicans from all profession is given various award for their contribution to nation buolding.

There are five orders that can be awarded to Jamaicans for outstanding services. The highest order is the " The Order of National Hero"

Other Awards

The second highest is "The Order of the Nation" This is awarded to the Governor General. the Prime Minister and their spouses. All Prime Ministers and Governor Generals automatically gets this award.

This is awarded to foreign heads of state or governmentThis was created in 2003.

Order Of Jamaica

• Honourary foreign nationals

The Order of Merit

This is awarded to Jamaicans who have distinguished themselves internationally. One such person is The Honourable Usain Bolt.

The Order of Distinctions

This is the sixth order. It may be given to locals as well as foreign nationals.

Prime Minister's medal of appreiciation. This has two categories.
