All living things have one or more cells

• Cells are so small you need a microscope to see them

• Some living things have only one cell and others have trillions of cells

• There are two different types of cells - plant cells and animal cells

• Different cells have different jobs to do

All living things use energy

• Living things need energy

• For example, we need energy to move and think

• Animals get energy from eating other living things like plants and other animals

• Plant cells get their energy from the sun to make their own food

All living things respond to their environment

• Living things respond to changes in their environment such as temperature, light, and sound

All living things grow

• Living things grow by getting bigger

• Lving things also develop by changing when they grow

All living things reproduce

• All living things are able to make other living things

• For example, dogs make puppies and plants spread seeds to grow new plants
