Past tense

When I WAS a child, I had many dolls.

When you WERE a child, you WERE terrible.

There are 2 different forms: WAS ( 1st - 3rd person singular) and WERE (2nd person singular + all plural)

WAS he happy after the party?

WERE you terrible as a child?

He WASN'T happy after the party.

You WEREN'T terrible as a child.

Regular verbs: INFINITIVE + -ED

Irregular verbs: see verb pattern: go - WENT - gone

example: Yesterday I WORKED all day

example: Last night I SAW an exciting film

DID you WORK all day yesterday?

DID you SEE an exciting movie last night?

REMEMBER! Always use DID + Subject + INFINITIVE for a question

I DIDN'T WORK all day yesterday

I DIDN' SEE an exciting movie last night

REMEMBER! Always use Subject + DIDN'T + INFINITIVE for a negative form
