Air masses are defined by their MOISTURE LEVEL and TEMPEARTURE

Continental air masses form over LAND

They are DRY

There are 2 types of continental air masses: cP and cT

Maritime Air Masses form over water

They are MOIST/WET

There are 2 types of maritime air masses mT and mP.

Polar air masses are formed near the poles

Polar air masses are made of COLD air

There are 2 types of polar air masses: cP and mP.

Tropical air masses form near the Equator

Tropical air masses are made up of warm air
