AS conjunctions the difference between however and so is that however is in whatever manner that while so is in order that .

however can be used to join tow simple sentences to make compound sentence .However indicates that the relation ship between the two independent clauses is one contrast or opposition .

using however :if however is used to begin a sentence ,it must be followed by comma.

Ex:However ,life in Ancient Egypt three thousand years ago was much more sophisticated

1- I like that sweater;however it only comes in one color .

2-Im not excited about going ;however Iwill go to support you .

Tom has money.However,he is not all that happy .
