Cell Theory
Robert Hooke was the first person to discover cells.
In 1665, he built a microscope and made a slide of cork cell.
He found that the cells looked like small boxes.
In 1673, Anton van Leeuwenhoek took pond scum and looked at it under a microscope.
He found small organisms present. These were called animalcules.
The cell theory states that all organisms are made of one or more cells. It also states that the cell is the basic unit of life. And finally, it states cells come from existing cells.
