Consonant Sounds

People speak all kinds of different languages, but everyone makes sounds with their mouth and vocal cords.

We make these sounds with our lips.

b - p - m - w
try saying each sound without out adding any other sounds
for instance, say "b", not "buh"

We make these sounds with our upper teeth and lips

f - v
try making these sounds with any extra sounds
for instance, say "f", not "foh"

Sounds created with the tongue and teeth

t - d - n - j - l - s - z - r - y - k - g - h
say each letter sound alone like before
for instance, "t", not " tuh"

Place hand gently on larynx (throat)

say: t and g
