Coordinating Conjunctions are also known as FANBOYS:

Simple sentence:
This sentence is also known as an independent clause.
Example: The students go to class every day.

Compound Sentence:
A compound sentence has two independent clauses that are connected with a coordinating conjunction (fanboys).
Example: The students go to school everyday, but they do not always do their homework.
