Capitalization Rules

a NOUN is a person, place or thing

SPECIFIC names need to be capitalized

do NOT capitalize "the principal of the high school", but DO capitalize "Halifax County High School's Principal, Mr. Lewis"

LOTS of things are included in this rule

Team names, places, holidays, historical events, etc.

do NOT say "I love Basketball" but DO say "I am a fan of the Chicago Bulls"

You are a specific person, so when you refer to yourself, use a capital letter!

"No matter what, I always try my best."

Capitalize nationalities, races, and cultural groups

Capitalize the names of religions and religious texts

Capitalize titles of books, movies, plays, etc. EXCEPT for words like "a, an, it"

For example: "My brother and I went to see Black Panther. It was way better than Guardians of the Galaxy!"
