Sentences can be classified in four different ways.
A declarative sentence tells something. It ends with a period. For example: I like dogs.
An interrogative sentence asks a question. It ends with a question mark. For example: Do you like animals?
An imperative sentence gives a command or makes a request. It ends with a period. For example: Feed the cat, please.
An exclamatory sentence expresses strong feeling. It ends with an exclamation point. For example: Your iguana is under my bed again!
