With an EFTPOS machine it is used to transfer funds from a customers bank account to a business

Takes money from deposited funds at bank

Much like Eftpos, credit cards use current account funds (Money in the customers bank account at the time) to pay for goods and services

A credit card offers you a 'line of credit' so that you can make a purchase. 

You must pay back this money in the future. 

Visa, Mastercard

It is not taken directly out of your account, but rather placed on your 'line of credit' and you must pay it back at the end of the month
