• POPES: MAJOR AUTHORITY WHO RULES IN ROME. 

THE MONKS AND THEIR MISSIONS 

• A Monk: was a man who sought to live a life divorced from the world, cut off from ordinary human society, to pursue an ideal of total dedication to God. 

• The monk's life was a communal one. Monks ate, worked, slept, and worshiped together.

• Abbot: Father of the Monastery. Unquestioning obedience to their will.  

• MONKS BECAME THE NEW HEROES OF CHRISTIAN CIVILIZATION.
