First Americans came to the Americas during the last Ice Age

Glaciers covered upper part of North America

Life during ice age was hard, cold and dangerous

People were nomads (people who move from place to place)

They walked over the Bering straight looking for food

When Ice Age ended, land warmed. People became known as American Indians

In Clovis New Mexico, spear point was found in 1930's

Clovis point was more than 4000 years older than the Folsom point

Evidence shows that other groups entered the Americas around the same time as the Clovis people
