Introduction
Was 23 years old when he succeeded to thrown
As inherited kingdom was not fully in his control so he faced resistance from Afghan and Rajputs.
On father's Will he divided empire among three brothers Kamran, Askari Mirza and Hindal
When Humayun needs support to fight ambitious Afghan (Sher Shah Suri), his brothers sided with his enemies
As a result he lost his empire.

Battle of Kanauj
Sher Shah Suri posed a challenge to Mughal power by taking control of Behar and the rich province of Bengal
This led to the battle of Kanauj in 1540 which decided the fate of Mughal Empire
Humayun was defeated and fled to Persia and took refuge with Shah Tahmasp
Sher Shah Suri declared himself emperor of Hindustan and successfully put down all opposition during his rule

Humayun in Exile
For next fifteen years , Humayun remained a fugitive
He decided to go to Kashmir but his brother blocked his way.
So he fled towards Sindh and took shelter with the Raja of Umerkot
He then presented Koh-e-Nur to the Shah of Persia in retiurn for the refuge of himself and his family
Finally with Shah Tahmasp's help, he recaptured Punjab, Delhi and Agra and ascended the thrown of hindustan

Hamayun's death
Six months after regaining his lost empire he fell from from his observatory.
All medical aid proved useless.
After 17 days khutba was read in name of his son Jalal-ud-din Muhammad with the title "Akbar"

Humayun as a Ruler
He was not a military genius like his father
But was interested in astronomy, Astrology, painting and poetry.
He was kind and generous whose kindness was exploited by his enemies.
He brought Persian culture in sub-continent.
