The Gospels introduction

All four Gospels tell of the the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. 

Each author shaped a writing to emphasize particular features of Jesus and His teachings.

The Gospel writers were doing more than compiling and recording information. (They were not recording one scene after the other like we make videos.)

Let's figure out the word: Syn - optic 

Synoptic = look similar

Matthew, Mark, and Luke look similar in the way  (format) they tell of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection

They are called the synoptic gospels
