Text structure refers to how information is organized in a text. It helps readers understand the relationships between ideas.

The main types of text structures include description, sequence, cause and effect, compare and contrast, and problem and solution.

A description text structure provides details about a person, place, thing, or idea, helping the reader visualize it.

A sequence text structure presents information in a specific order, often showing steps or events in chronological order.

A cause and effect text structure explains why something happened (the cause) and what happened as a result (the effect).

A compare and contrast text structure highlights the similarities and differences between two or more subjects.

A problem and solution text structure presents a problem and then discusses one or more solutions to that problem.
