Percents

A percent is a ratio expressed as a fraction of 100. It represents a part of a whole.

To calculate the percent of a number, multiply the number by the percent (in decimal form) and then divide by 100.

Sale Price = Original Price - (Discount Percent × Original Price) / 100.

Discount Percent = [(Original Price - Sale Price) / Original Price] × 100 = [(50 - 30) / 50] × 100 = 40%.

Percent = (Part / Whole) × 100.

To find what percent one number (Part) is of another (Whole), use the formula: (Part / Whole) × 100.

8% of 200 = 0.08 × 200 = 16.

Number = 90 / 0.30 = 300.

62% of 250 = 0.62 × 250 = 155.

To convert a fraction to a percent, divide the numerator by the denominator and multiply by 100.
