An inequality is a mathematical statement that compares two expressions and shows that one is greater than, less than, or not equal to the other.

The symbol '>' means 'greater than'.

The symbol '<' means 'less than'.

The symbol '≥' means 'greater than or equal to'.

The symbol '≤' means 'less than or equal to'.

To solve a linear inequality, isolate the variable on one side of the inequality sign, similar to solving an equation, and reverse the inequality sign if you multiply or divide by a negative number.

A function is a relation that assigns exactly one output for each input.

The vertical line test is a method to determine if a graph represents a function; if a vertical line intersects the graph at more than one point, it is not a function.

A system of equations is a set of two or more equations with the same variables.

To graph a linear inequality, first graph the corresponding equation as a line, then shade the region that satisfies the inequality.
