Internal and External Conflict

Internal Conflict is a psychological struggle within a character, where they face opposing desires, emotions, or beliefs. Example: A character feels torn between following their dreams or fulfilling family expectations.

External Conflict is a struggle between a character and an outside force, which can be another character, society, or nature. Example: A character fights against a storm or a villain.

Internal Conflict often leads to character growth as characters confront their fears, desires, and moral dilemmas.

External Conflict creates tension and challenges for characters, propelling the story forward and engaging the reader.

A hero battles against an evil villain who threatens their town.

Setting can influence External Conflict by providing obstacles or challenges, such as a harsh environment or societal norms.
