Data and Graphs

A tally chart is a way to show data using marks (tallies) to count how many times something happens.

A bar graph.

A picture graph uses images or symbols to represent data.

Count the tallies in groups of five and add them together.

A line graph shows how something changes over time.

Look for the color with the highest number or tallest bar.

It means that 14 students chose blue as their favorite color.

Subtract the smaller number from the larger number.

The highest score is the largest number shown in the data.

Each bar represents a different category of data.
