Waves

A wave is a disturbance that transfers energy from one place to another without transferring matter.

Amplitude is the maximum distance that points on a wave, such as crests and troughs, move from their rest position.

A wave with a large amplitude carries more energy and is usually louder or more intense.

Frequency is the number of waves that pass a point in one second, measured in Hertz (Hz).

Wavelength is the distance between two consecutive crests or troughs in a wave.

Gamma rays have the highest frequency among all types of waves.

When the amplitude of a sound wave increases, the sound becomes louder.

Electromagnetic waves are waves that can travel through a vacuum and do not require a medium, such as light waves.

Wavelength and frequency are inversely related; as the wavelength increases, the frequency decreases.

Examples of waves include sound waves, light waves, water waves, and seismic waves.
