Heat Transfer Review

Conduction is the transfer of heat through direct contact between materials. It occurs when heat moves from a hotter object to a cooler one through physical touch.

Convection is the transfer of heat through the movement of fluids (liquids or gases). Warm air or liquid rises, while cooler air or liquid sinks, creating a circulation pattern.

Radiation is the transfer of heat in the form of electromagnetic waves. It does not require a medium to travel through, allowing heat to be transferred through empty space.

There are 3 ways: conduction, convection, and radiation.

Conduction.

Convection.

Radiation.

An example of conduction is when you touch a metal spoon that has been sitting in a hot pot of soup.

An example of convection is the way warm air rises from a heater and circulates around a room.

An example of radiation is feeling the warmth of the sun on your skin.
